Speed Networking at Ards Business Hub: Building Connections That Matter

There is something powerful about getting a room full of business owners together, giving them the opportunity to talk, share ideas and make new connections. That was the focus of a recent speed networking event at Ards Business Hub, which brought together 22 local business owners for an evening of networking, conversation and practical insight.

The session was facilitated by communications coach Kevin O’Reilly, who kept the event moving and encouraged everyone to get involved from the outset.

The event began with an icebreaker designed to get conversations started and help participants step outside their usual networking comfort zone. This was followed by a speed networking session, giving attendees the opportunity to meet a number of other business owners in the room and find out more about their businesses.
For many small business owners, networking can be about much more than exchanging business cards. It is an opportunity to discover potential collaborations, share experiences, find suppliers or partners, and simply talk to other people who understand the realities of running a business.
The evening also included a fireside chat featuring two local founders, Ali Mooney of ND Buddy and Ashleigh Watson, founder of Copper Square. The conversation provided an opportunity to hear directly from two entrepreneurs about their experiences of building and developing their businesses.

Rather than focusing solely on success stories, the fireside chat explored the realities of entrepreneurship and the experiences, challenges and decisions that come with running a business.

Hearing directly from other founders can provide a valuable perspective for business owners at every stage. While no two businesses follow exactly the same path, there are often common experiences, challenges and lessons that can help others on their own journey. Events like this are an important part of creating a strong local business community.

For smaller businesses and entrepreneurs, having access to other business owners can provide a valuable source of knowledge, support and new opportunities. A conversation at a networking event can lead to a collaboration, a referral, a new customer or simply a useful connection that develops over time. With 22 business owners in the room, the event created plenty of opportunities for those connections to happen.

At Ards Business Hub, supporting local businesses is about more than providing workspace. It is about creating opportunities for businesses to connect, learn and grow. The Speed Networking event demonstrated exactly what can happen when local business owners come together in the same room: conversations start, experiences are shared and new relationships begin. And sometimes, the most valuable business connection is the one you didn’t know you needed when you walked through the door.
