At Ards Business Hub, we’re committed to fostering a sustainable future for our community and the planet. As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce our environmental impact, we’re thrilled to announce the installation of solar panels at two of our sites: Sketrick House and Strangford Park. This exciting development is a testament to our dedication to environmental responsibility and renewable energy.
Impressive Results at Sketrick House
This data reflects a 12-month period from January to December 2024.
Since the installation, the solar panels at Sketrick House have generated a total yield of 19.647 MWH (megawatt-hours) of electricity.
To put this into perspective, that’s enough to power an average home for about 652 days!
But the benefits extend far beyond just energy production:
- Equivalent to Planting 10.88 Trees: The CO2 offset by these panels is comparable to the amount of carbon dioxide 10.88 trees would absorb in a year.
- Saving 7.86 Tonnes of Coal: This is the amount of coal that would have been burned to produce the same amount of electricity, meaning we have saved 7.86 tonnes of coal.
- Preventing 19.56 Tonnes of CO2 Emissions: By generating clean energy, we’ve avoided releasing 19.56 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.
Positive Impact at Strangford Park
This data reflects a 12-month period from January to December 2024.
The solar panels at Strangford Park have also made a significant impact, generating 13.521 MWH (megawatt-hours) of electricity.
This is enough to power an average home for about 450 days.
The environmental benefits include:
- Equivalent to Planting 7.49 Trees: The CO2 offset here is akin to the carbon dioxide absorption of 7.49 trees annually.
- Saving 5.41 Tonnes of Coal: We have prevented the burning of 5.41 tonnes of coal by using solar energy.
- Preventing 13.48 Tonnes of CO2 Emissions: This amount of CO2 emissions has been avoided, helping to mitigate climate change.
